The product: an app for parents to enroll their kids in after-school classes and pay for the service.
Project duration: March, 2024 - May, 2024 (2 months)

Painpoint 1: There’s no application listing all available classes in the neighborhood. So the market calls for a comprehensive one-stop-shop platform.
Painpoint 2: Users find it difficult to use the interface of a current class registration website. Users are looking for a clean and easy to use interface.
Painpoint 3: Some popular classes fill up quickly. A reminder system can be very useful so parents can sign up as soon as registration opens.
Painpoint 4: Parents make their decisions based on class type, schedule, cost, location, convenience and reviews, etc. The app should have variable sorting parameters.

The problem: Parents find it difficult to find classes and activities for their kids in the neighborhood to fit in their schedules. Some popular classes fill up quickly.
The goal: This platform allows local businesses to list their classes and activities for parents to find and enroll their kids in after-school classes that fit in their schedules and age groups.

Doing paper wireframes helped me to see different layout options and allowed me to prioritize the key elements on the home screen of the App.

Users can access key features from the navigation bar, including their account information, saved classes and registered classes.
By clicking on “Browse all”, the user can get to the list of programs with an interactive map, different searching parameters and filters.
The user can also click on the search icon on the home screen.
The “Class details” screen shows photos, descriptions, overall rating and reviews of a selected class. Users can share, save to favorites or register on this page.

On the registration page, users can select/confirm information and view program summary before adding to cart.
When users click on “Add to cart”, they are taken to their shopping cart, where they can view all the programs added to the cart before checking out or continuing to shop.
On the checkout page, users can review the final information and choose a payment method then click to place an order. A confirmation screen will appear afterwards.
My favorites page shows all the saved programs with updated info on available seats or registration open/close dates. Users can register or set a reminder when the registration opens up.
My classes page shows all the current and past enrollments. Users can leave a review for the current program and find similar to their past programs.

Moderated usability studies were conducted during interviews with 7 potential users in each round. Insights were developed from data analysis.

Findings:

A “quick checkout” option helps with the speedy checkout process.
Users would like to have an option to contact businesses directly.
Users have difficulty locating the navigation bar. Frequently used items need to be visible.
Age range is the first searching parameter for most users.
Some users would like to be able to sync the classes with their calendar.
It’s helpful to include the time of the day registration is open.
